The paper is then glued and shaped on a supple frame of Higo bamboo ribbing, creating a delicate but powerful lighting sculpture.<\/p>\n<p>The soft and warm glow of light casting through the paper transforms \u201cthe harshness of electricity back to the light of our origins \u2013 the sun \u2013 so that its warmth may continue to fill our rooms at night\u201d as explained by Noguchi himself.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Created in 1953, in the early years of Noguchi and Ozeki's collaboration, the AKARI 21A suspension, 65cm in diameter, is the medium-sized ellipse of the 15A, 21A and 26A series, models with a tight and regular bamboo wire structure.<\/p>\n<p>Isamu Noguchi's Akari light sculptures are considered icons of 20th century modern design.
