The paper is then glued and shaped on a supple frame of Higo bamboo ribbing, creating a delicate but powerful lighting sculpture.<\/p>\n<p>The soft and warm glow of light casting through the paper transforms \u201cthe harshness of electricity back to the light of our origins \u2013 the sun \u2013 so that its warmth may continue to fill our rooms at night\u201d as explained by Noguchi himself.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Designed in 1953, the 71cm-high Akari 23A is the largest in the series of oval suspension lamps with a tight, regular bamboo wire structure.
